How much does
God love you?

He gave His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for you. Find out what that means...

There is no doubt that God loves us, but is that all it takes? Is there more to the story? The Bible says there is. What you will see here is straight from the Bible and will describe to you what God says about Heaven and hell, about Jesus and salvation. We hope you will take a few minutes to find out for yourself what God has done for you.

The day is coming...

All of us will one day stand before God and give account to Him for the life we have lived.

Romans 14:12 - So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

For some, the thought of that is not pleasant. For others, they may feel good about the way they have lived life. But in reality, all of us have to face that day.

Hebrews 9:27 - And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Although most people have thought about that day, few are prepared. Have you thought about it? What would you say to God if you were to stand before Him? Some will tout their religion, while others will make excuses, but none of that will be good enough in the day of judgment.

Matthew 7:22-23 - Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

You see, salvation is not about what you have done for God, but about what He has done for you.

What can I do?

This question is flawed from its beginning. It is what we have done that has gotten us into the trouble that we face. God has said that we have sinned: disobeyed His divine laws. You probably know some of those moral laws. They start with 'thou shalt not' in the Bible—not worship other gods or things or blaspheme (curse using) God's name, not steal or kill or tell lies about others, not covet what your neighbor has or commit adultery (even in your heart). When we break them, we have sinned against God.

Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Compared to each other, we often feel good about ourselves. But when we compare ourselves to God, we find out that we have fallen short of His perfection. None of us are righteous (having no sin). All of us are condemned.

Romans 3:10 - As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

You may be saying, "But what about all the good things I have done?" Even our attempts to do good fall short and leave us in need of someone who will save us from our sin and from ourselves. There's good news: Jesus did!

Romans 5:8  - But God commendeth (shows) his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
God's Answer to our problem:

We are all sinners and sin has a penalty, plain and simple. If God is holy and righteous (which He is), then sin must be punished.

Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

  • Wages: what we earn.
  • Gift: what someone else pays for and gives to us.

What we have earned for our own sin is death—separation from God for eternity in a sinners hell. This is not just talking physical death which all people will face, but it is talking about what the Bible calls the "second death."

Revelation 20:12, 14-15 - And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

But there is a gift of God that he offers to all because He does not want you to perish in hell. He loves you and made a way for you to be forgiven.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Who is God's Son?

Jesus is the Son of God—God who took on flesh to pay for sin.

1 John 3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

Jesus was sinless. He was pictured by the innocent lamb that was led away to be killed. We are guilty but He would take the punishment of our sin. He didn't fight it. He willingly laid down his life in our place.

Isaiah 53:5-7 - But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

He didn't fight it. He willingly laid down his life for us because He loves us.

John 15:13 - Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

His death, God accepts as payment for sin. He died so you could go free.

John 1:29 - Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

It gets personal...

Although Jesus died for all and offers salvation to all, only those who personally put their trust in Him will be saved (forgiven).

1 Timothy 4:10  For...we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially (or particularly) of those that believe.

A casual knowledge of who Jesus is does not count as saving faith. You must understand that Jesus died for your sins, believe that He rose again from the dead, and put your trust in Him to save you.

Romans 10:9 - That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Every person that comes to Him in faith, He will not turn away. He tells you to come and receive Him.

John 6:37 - All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

If you do, He will forgive your sins and make you a child of God.

John 1:12 - But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons (or children) of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Simply Put:

You must...

  • -RECOGNIZE THAT YOU ARE A SINNER and that you will stand before God one day.
  • -REALIZE THAT IF YOU DIE WITHOUT CHIRST you will spend eternity separated from God in hell.
  • -KNOW THAT GOD LOVES YOU and made a way for you to be forgiven by sending His Son, Jesus, to die in your place.
  • -BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST PERSONALLY as the sinless Son of God Who rose again from the dead.
  • -CALL OUT TO HIM, humbly asking Him to save you.

Romans 10:13 - For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

God does not want you to perish in hell, He wants you to be saved. He wants you to know that you have eternal life and that you will one day be in Heaven with Him. God loves you. Will you receive His free gift of salvation? Will you decide to personally trust Jesus Christ as your Savior? If you call out to Him, He will hear you. You can pray to Him now.
