A Message from the Pastor

The month of June is known as the month of weddings. This is the month that many
young couples will choose to get married – the month my wife and I were married. Nothing
is more wonderful than that time when a young man and young woman enter into the holy
estate of marriage. This reminds me of a certain wedding that Jesus told us about in the
Bible as He tells us the Parable of Ten Virgins – five were wise and five were foolish. All of
them took their lamps and went forth to meet the bridegroom. The five that were wise
took oil in their lambs, but the foolish took none. When the bridegroom came, those wise
virgins went out to meet him. But the foolish virgins had to go out and buy oil for their
lamps instead. Those that were ready went into the marriage with him and the door was
shut. Afterward came the other virgins saying, “Lord, Lord, open to us.” But he answered
and said, “Verily I say unto you, I know you not.” How sad five of those virgins could not
enter in – for the door was shut – their opportunity was forever lost. Sadder still is that
many will be left behind when Jesus Christ comes for His Bride – the Church. While this is
the month for weddings – it could well be the month that Jesus will come! So this parable
closes with these words of warning, “Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the
hour wherein the Son of man cometh” (Matthew 25:13).
